
Salma Hayek Pinault, born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jamesenez , on September 2, 1966 is an American and Mexican actor and producer. In Mexico she started her career with the role as Teresa in the television series (1989-1991) as well as El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) which was the film in which she was nominated for an Ariel Award. She soon established herself in Hollywood through appearances in films like Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) and Dogma (1999). Hayek's portrayal of painter Frida Kahlo in the biographical film Frida (2002) which she also wrote she became the first Mexican actress to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress[6In addition, she earned her Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek continued to make films as well as starring in action pictures Once Upon a Time in Mexico in subsequent years.
