She's reported on sports for some of one of the largest media outlets across the globe. She spent almost a decade covering sports for The Washington Post, including tennis, football, and basketball. Nichols was awarded two Emmy Awards during her nine-year period at ESPN and appeared on the most watched shows such as NFL Countdown or SportsCenter, moved to ESPN following 2004. She also worked as a correspondent for Monday Night Football on the network. After that, she joined CNN and Turner Sports. The first show she created and hosted was self-titled, Unguarded together with Rachel Nichols, and aired regularly on CNN as well as CNN International. More than a billion people watched the program across the world. Nichols also worked to TNT on NBA broadcasts during playoffs as well as broadcasts for the All-Star game. Nichols also worked for TBS reporting on golf and baseball broadcasts and Final Four broadcasts on CBS. This is only the second nomination for the honor for a female from the more than 200 nominees contestants.
